There are a lot of reasons why people opt out of rides, but that does not mean it has to ruin it for everyone else! Fear, medical conditions, discomfort, or general lack of interest are all great reasons to skip an attraction.
Height restrictions hinder children from going on a ride, and since we cannot simply leave our children unattended, sometimes parents are also not able to ride. Enter… rider switch!
Rider Switch is the way to ensure everyone gets to ride the ride without letting anyone be left out, and they will even let some guests ride twice to ensure no one is ever having to ride alone if they don’t want to.
Tip!
Cast Members will often let two people from the first group ride with the person who waited with the non-rider. Especially if there are two kids about the same age that want to ride again! Just ask!
How does it work?
Go to the Lightning Lane queue and ask a Cast Member if rider switch is available.
Tell one of the Cast Members you want to do rider switch, and they will give you a lightning lane for you and one other person. This lightning lane will go onto your MyDisneyAccount to be used the way you scan into a lightning lane (Magic Band, Magic Mobile, Key to the World Card, etc).
Then, one adult and whoever does not want to ride goes and waits, and the rest of your party goes through the standby line (or lightning lane if you have purchased Genie+).
After the first group rides, the person waiting with the non-rider and one other person of your choice from the first group, go scan into the lightning lane and ride next.
